Welcome to this week’s e-news.

This week I have been in London with my Constructing Excellence colleagues discussing the 2016 national activity, which will look at the key topics of the Construction 2025 agenda. If anyone would like to discuss National Membership please give me a call to arrange an appointment. The North East are setting up their own Construction Clients Group in the new year and if you are interested in this group please let me know.

This morning we held the Restoring a Past….Preserving a Future in association with Quadriga. Lindsay Law gave an overview of repair, care and maintenance of historic and classical buildings. A range of different techniques to be used when restoring one of these historic buildings and how to apply those methods in a practical way. We would like to thank DAC Beachcroft for hosting this Club event and also Lindsay for an informative presentation.

This afternoon we will be attending the Kier North East Christmas Drinks Reception at The Copthorne Hotel and we will look forward to catching up with many of you there.

Tomorrow we are attending Interserve’s Construction Christmas Drinks and Networking at The Biscuit Factory and again hopefully we will see some of you there!

Next week is an exciting week for us as we launch our 2016 Constructing Excellence in the North East Awards. The workshop on Tuesday will discuss how to enter, what the judges specifically look for in the entries and hints/tips on what not to do. The Esh Academy building is part of a £3.6m development which also includes an extension to the main office building and an incubator building.

The new  two-storey 370m2 building will stand adjacent to Esh Group’s headquarters at Bowburn in County Durham and will be the focal point for the 150 apprentices which Esh Group has committed to taking on over the three years to 2017.

The fully accessible building will feature a range of high quality indoor training facilities including syndicate rooms, administration offices, areas for the trainees to meet and study and an outdoor training area for construction plant and materials handling training.
