Welcome to this week's e-news.

Last Friday evening Leanne and I attended the Constructing Excellence Yorkshire & Humber Awards at the National Railway Museum. Many congratulations to all the winners and we will look forward to seeing them at the National Awards Final in October.

If you were a North East Winner and haven't yet booked your tickets for the National Awards, can you please contact Leanne as soon as possible so you don't miss out!

On Monday I was in London with my Constructing Excellence Regional colleagues to discuss future activity. This includes the Constructing Excellence Network Conference being held at Lords Cricket Ground on 11 November, Regional Roadshows, future construction summits, Awards 2016 and Membership. The Membership ties in nicely with what Leanne and I have been doing over the past few weeks and this week have been to see more organisations to discuss Constructing Excellence. We will be making visits to our current members in August, so if you would like us to visit you please contact Leanne to arrange an appointment.

CENE will be moving to new premises at the e-volve Business Centre, Cygnet Way, Rainton Bridge South Business Park, Houghton-le-Spring, DH4 5QY next week. Please ensure this information is passed onto your accounts department and anyone else in your organisation that requires it too.

Our events schedule will resume on Friday 4th September kicking off with the First Friday Club, details of this will be announced shortly. CENE will also be supporting the Northumbrian Water 'WaterAid Race Day' also on the 4th, information on how to book is below.

We are constantly adding new events to our schedule so please keep an eye out on the newsletters for updates as well as our website.

We do look forward to seeing you soon and of course you are more than welcome to visit us in our new home too.

Best wishes

Constructing Excellence in the North East are delighted to be holding a ‘Future Housing’ event looking at Sustainable Homes, PassivHaus and Smart homes.

Scientific studies have not only revealed that between 85% and 95% of new homes consistently fail to satisfy the minimum standards required by Part L and Part F, but also that aspects of the Building Regulations are unfit for purpose and are considered to pose a threat to the health and wellbeing of occupants. New homes neither conserve the energy that is expected nor provide the standard of fresh air that you require to maintain a healthy indoor environment.

Mark Sidall
will discuss the causes of these problems and the only scientifically proven quality assurance measure that is more or less guaranteed to maximise comfort, minimise bills and create a healthy home.

Geoff Woodcock will cover the creation of ‘Trivselhus by Esh’ our new brand of Low Carbon, Zero Energy Homes, which are targeted at the upper end of the housing market, this is a Joint Venture between Esh Group and Swedish Company, Sodra, a Forestry Group with a turnover of circa £1.3bn.

Rob Charlton, Space Group will discuss the SpaceHus.

This exciting venture is raising funds for Open Treasure, a project which is transforming public access to some of the Cathedral's most spectacular spaces and to the breath-taking collections it has acquired over the centuries.

When complete, the 300,000 brick model will be as accurate a scale representation of the Cathedral as possible, spanning 3.84 metres in length, 1.53 metres wide and 1.7 metres in height. For every donation of LEGO bricks added to the model Cathedral, the project is expected to raise approximately £300,000 for the Cathedral’s Open Treasure appeal.
