G4C Site Visit – Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre (NZIIC)

This event has passed.

We are delighted to announce we will be hosting a site visit to the Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre (NZIIC), Middlesbrough on Tuesday 21st February between 12noon and 2pm.

Please find below some information regarding this exciting event.

o This is an industry-led and industry-focused facility that is designed to work with commercial partners and external organisations to focus on developing new approaches to drive the wider adoption and implementation of Net Zero Carbon, tackle the impact of waste and pollution on the environment, and to maximise expertise around industrial decarbonisation, sustainability, and the circular economy.

o A main driver behind the project is that Teesside University, the Tees Valley Combined Authority, and the Materials Processing Institute (MPI) collectively aim to create an internationally recognised Net Zero Technology Cluster. The new Centre will house Hydrogen, Circular Economy, Intelligent Energy, Thermal Technologies, Digital Processing and Prototyping Departments as well as a Research Village, meeting room and breakout spaces, designed to encourage collaborative working.

o The new building itself will be Net Zero Carbon and will meet the requirements for BREEAM Outstanding. GSS were responsible for the full appointment of the design team, and engaged an M&E Engineer, Net Zero Carbon Specialist, BREEAM Assessor, C&S Engineer, and numerous other sub-consultants, such as Acousticians and Surveyors.

This site visit will include:

o Short presentation on the principles/overview of the building, including our experiences delivering a net zero carbon project

o Site walkaround
