The Weston College Construction Offer and Introduction to the CITB Funded ‘Constructing Lives Together’ project supporting talent into construction in the South West

This Webinar will give an insight to the Construction offer at Weston College from trades through to white collar construction including apprenticeships, T-Levels, adult training, short courses, OSAT and upskilling as well as commercial training available at the Construction Training Centre (inclusive of scaffolding, plant training, SMSTS and civils groundworks etc.). There will also be opportunity to gain an introduction to the CITB funded ‘Constructing Lives Together’ project which has been designed to support adults into the construction industry gaining them a CSCS Laborer Green card with onsite work experience. If you are a recruiting manager this webinar will give you information about how to access the ‘Constructing Lives Together’ project and how it can support your future recruitment activity.

This webinar is suitable for construction based employers (both build and civils) to explore the range of funded and commercial training and upskilling opportunities available. This would also be relevant for employers who are actively recruiting for staff to be able to access a talent pool via the ‘Constructing Lives Together’ Project and will gain a full understanding of the project and how they can access and participate.

You will learn about training and development opportunities, gain and understanding of what an apprenticeship (what they look like today), T-Level’s, Traineeships and what is available at our commercial training centre. You will also learn about accessing funding as well as how Weston College can support your recruitment activity.

BEN HODDER

Dean of Faculty for Construction -Weston College

Ben has worked in the field of Further education for 16 years and has worked for Weston college for the past 10 years.  Ben started his career as a teacher but quickly became involved in the curriculum design and leadership. Ben was a Subject Area Manager in the construction faculty for 5 years before being appointed the Dean of Faculty for construction.  Ben oversees several hundred learners across the fulltime, apprenticeship and commercial programmes ranging from entry Level 1 to Level 6 degree Level.  Prior to a career in further education Ben was a self-employed site carpenter and was a contractor for Wimpey homes. Ben is very passionate about construction and promoting industry training to the next generation and still undertakes small carpentry works as a hobby, but he has also qualified in joinery, brickwork and property maintenance since working in education.

LOUISE GREENE

Business Growth and Employer Partnership Manger- Weston College

Louise spent 10 years in recruitment specialising in recruitment for the construction industry before joining Weston College 6 years ago.  Since joining Weston College Louise has worked in the field of apprenticeships withing Construction and Engineering and for the past 2 years Louise has worked in Business Growth Team of Weston College and as Employer Partnership Manager working closely with employers to understand their training and recruitment needs and offers a range of bespoke solutions and Project Management.

MIKE HUDSON

Project Manager, Adult Studies – Weston College

Mike has spent the last 10 years in Leadership and Management working in the insurance sector and has worked for the largest Private Training provider in England.  Mike has recently joined Weston College as a Project Manager chiefly working on the mobilisation and execution of the ‘Constructing Lives Together’ Project coordinating with key employers involved in project as well as the partner colleges.  Mike has a wealth of experience in Projects Management and leading teams into success.
