New Northumberland College, Ashington Site Visit

Bowmer+Kirkland are constructing the new Northumberland College at Wansbeck Business Park, which will be opening in October 2026. It will replace the existing college based on Green Lane and provide an excellent new teaching facility for Ashington.

The new college will consist of 3 buildings, a sports pitch and a Multi-Use Games Area. The Workshop Block will used to teach a range of trade-based subjects such as bricklaying, joinery, car mechanics, plumbing, electrical etc. The Teaching block will be used to teach catering, childcare, hair and beauty, sports injury/massage etc and it will have a café and hairdressers that is open to the general public. The Commons block will have the campus canteen area, lecture theatre and many HR facilities.

Additional work to improve access to the new site is also planned. Widening footpaths to include cyclists, better way finding and improved road crossing points are all included. The new railway station will be more accessible.

Site Visit is limited to max 20 persons – each person must bring their own PPE consisting of Boots, Hard Hard, High Vis, Glasses and Gloves.
