Generation4Change NE and Tees Valley are delighted to invite you to hear from those involved in the Beacon of Light the North East’s newest sports, health, education and events venue.
This briefing will include presentations from shed and FaulknerBrowns covering the design, challenges and how they were overcome plus a tour of the building following the talk.
Ross Blenkinsop, Structural Engineer from Shed for the Beacon of Light and oversaw the delivery from inception through until completion.
Ross is a Chartered Structural Engineer with over 13 years’ experience in engineering. He is an Engineering & BIM Leader for s h e d and has worked on many high profile projects both locally and nationally. Ross sits on the BIM Panel Committee for the Institute of Structural Engineers nationally and locally for the G4C Committee North East. He also tutors at Newcastle University informing engineering solutions to student scheme proposals on the architectural degree course.
Claire Harlow, Associate Technologist of FaulknerBrowns will cover
- An introduction to the project including the site location and client aspirations.
- Site constraints and design concept.
- An explanation of the four key zones; Education, Health and Wellbeing, Sport and Play and World of Work.
- Technical design focusing on materials, innovation and the challenges encountered.
