The Construction Industry Council NE (CIC NE), Constructing Excellence in the North East (CENE) and Construction Alliance Northeast (CAN) are working, together with the support of their member organisations and the wider industry and stakeholders, to develop a one voice strategy for the North East England construction sector.

The aim of the regional strategy is to demonstrate how the North East England construction industry can;

  • work within the overarching strategies of the region,
  • assist in attaining the aspirations of the two north east Local Enterprise Partnerships (North East LEP and Tees Valley LEP),
  • create a sustainable future for people, place and environment and
  • maximise regional skills and potential.

Strategy Development Consultation

On 2o November 2019 we hosted two consultation events, one for the north of the region in Tyne and Wear and one for the south of the region in Tees Valley. These events provided the opportunity for the industry and its stakeholders to contribute towards the developing strategy.

If you were unable to attend, we still need to hear your thoughts and suggestions.

Four key areas were discussed; Skills, Innovation, Productivity and a Sustainable Industry. However, a strong theme of Culture Change was also identified. The overlap of all the themes was highlighted  as well as the need to ensure the Climate Emergency is addressed within the final strategy.

If you would like to comment or share your thoughts there are two ways, either email Kate directly on  or sign up to the LinkedIn Group North East England Construction Strategy

No matter where your interest lies, we need your voice to be heard to ensure the North East England Construction Industry Strategy delivers for the industry and the region.
